Don Quijote by Orson Welles, 1960 (spanish and english versions)
- Don Quixote thinks he is a medieval knight-errant who toils along the plains of Spain. Riding his ailing horse, Rocinante, and together with his squire, Sancho Panza, who follows track with his donkey, Don Quixote confronts the most extraordinary adventures of the book but in the Spain of the 1960’s in the midst of traditional landscapes and festivities: shepherds, processions, Moors’ festivals, Sanfermines (bullfighting and running of the bulls through the streets of Pamplona) and so forth. El Caballero Don Quijote by Manuel Gutierrez Aragón, 2002 (with English subtitles)
- Hearing that the Turks were coming down the coast with a dangerous navy, Don Alonso Quijano, Don Quixote of La Mancha, knight Errant, will set out once again, against the will of his niece and the objections of his housekeeper, to engage in a new battle which begins in La Mancha and ends on the coast. Dressed in an old-fashioned armour and laughted at by everyone he encounters on his adventures, he is followed by his faithful squire, Sancho Panza, who pays tribute to the nobleman and his imaginary battles. As a reward for his services, Sancho´s master has been promised him that he would become Governor of an island. But Don Quixote´s priorities are clear: to undo the spell cast upon his beloved, the imaginary Dulcinea, the lady he has never seen. In order to carry out this task, he must go to the Black Cave to meet Montesinos. On the way, he comes upon another adventure. He meets the Duke who pretends to honour him but who tells him, in mockery, that to undo Dulcinea´s spell, Sancho, his faithful squire, must receive hundreds of lashes
